Again, this was drawn and painted after the fact and I started using pencil so I could get the slightly increasing bulge of the structure right. I then applied pen and ink, wax pastels and this time applied a wash of just water.

ReplyDeleteIt has been many, many years since I was in Kew and was delighted to see the pagoda. Wasn't it built in the 18th century sometime?
ReplyDeleteTell me, are the dragons still on it? Quite a sight for my young eyes when I first went there.

Hi Julie, thank you for your kind comments. According to the Kew website, the Pagoda was built in 1762. They say there have been many restorations but the dragons were never replaced although they discussed replica dragons in 1979. I was very lucky to have been taken to Kew on more than one occasion with my school.
